In a high valley to the north of Aliaga
we come across the town of Cirugeda
which rests 1152 m. above sea level. A former
municipality, it has been a district of Aliaga
since the sixties.
Among the highlights of its historical quarter
are the hermitage of San Macario
(XVIII c. in the Baroque style) and the
parish church of La Asunción
(XVII c.). Note the church steeple with its
three sections, the rustic decoration using
fragments of stones, plants... and the original
ceramic floor tiles from the time it was built.
